Creek, Dam & River Water Filtration

There is no hard and fast formula for filtering creek, dam or river water. There are many variables involved that effect how that water is best treated.
Some river water can be cleaned up enough for utility use with Big Blue 20" Filtration - however like all surface water it may be clean enough today, but after a dose of rain it may become dirty and block these filters quickly.
To establish suitable filtration for any surface water we need to have a lengthy discussion with the client about their needs and water conditions. It's simply not possible to offer "off the shelf filtration" due to the variations in the quality of the water supply to be treated.
Things to consider before calling us:
Having said this, the minimum filtration system we would offer for any surface water deemed to be good quality and relatively clean would be a triple Big Blue 20" x 4.5" System. Standard cartridges for this application would be a pleated washable sediment filter, then a poly spun sediment filter and finally a carbon block cartridge.
No guarantees can be offered on the lifespan of the cartridges under these generally unknown conditions.
If the water is used for bathing and or drinking, a UV Sterilising System needs to be considered after the filtration system.
For this type of filtration or any filtering of surface water, a pump would be required. Pumps provide enough pressure to push through the filtration - particularly given the potential for heavy sediment content / loading.
So in summary, each situation needs to be addressed independently. Feel free to contact us with your requirements.

Things to consider before calling us:
- What is the turbidity of this water? (suspended solids - degree of dirt in water)
- Are you concerned about Bacteria & Cysts? (are you using the water for drinking or just utility use)
- Do you pump to a holding tank before use?
- Are you prepared to put in settling tanks?
- Has the water been tested?
- Is the supply effected by storm water run off - does it vary in quality at any time?
- Is it spring fed?
- Is it exposed to free ranging live stock?
- Does it have Algae or weed growth?
- Is it collecting farm runoff water that may contain chemical residuals?
- Does it smell in any way?
